Klinik Hirslanden in Zurich is the principal hospital of Switzerland's largest private healthcare group.  As  Switzerland's premier cancer centre it is one of only a handful in Europe to offer intraoperative radiotherapy.  By applying radiation directly to the tumour bed as part of a lumpectomy operation, this can spare breast cancer patients from weeks of conventional radiotherapy with risk of radiation burn to the skin .
Klinik Hirslanden also offers a full range of medical and surgical services including the latest high-technology treatment devices including CyberKnife® radiosurgery Trilogy® 'stereotactic', image guided radiotherapy, da Vinci® robotic surgery, and advanced cardiac facilities.
Uveal melanoma is a cancer of the eye.  A variety of treatments is available but in severe cases complete removal of the eye can be required.
The Hirslanden Neuropelveology Centre in Zurich, Switzerland, offers new hope to patients with chronic abdominal pain, sciatica, phantom pain, multiple sclerosis, extensive endometriosis and bladder and bowel dysfunction.  Details in our MHL Clinics web site.

Proton therapy treatment room
Rinecker proton and surgery centre, Munich, Germany
Rinecker Proton Therapy Centre joins MHL
In April 2011 we added our first proton therapy centre.  Rinecker Proton Therapy Centre is a dedicated, purpose-built €150m private cancer centre in Munich, Germany, complete with guest services on site.
Proton therapy treats any condition which can be treated with radiotherapy, but it offers many important advantages.  X-ray beams penetrate through the tumour into sound tissue beyond, but proton beams stop at the precise depth required.
This means that proton therapy can safely deliver high doses of radiation to the target tumour in shorter times, whilst sparing nearby sensitive organs and greatly reducing side effects.
